What is Chronic Pain?

With Mobilise you can learn how to manage your chronic pain condition.

We will explain to you why you hurt and offer innovative chronic pain treatment and management strategies.

Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience produced by the central nervous system when it decides that your body is actually or potentially in danger, and needs to be protected. It is your brain’s way of looking out for you and making sure you are safe. Often pain is only needed temporarily because of a minor injury or accident and you recover fully and quickly without even thinking about it much. Occasionally however, pain becomes persistent or repetitive and starts affecting all areas of life. It’s because your nervous system keeps making the conclusion that you still need protection and it adapts in a way that makes it more efficient and faster at pain production. If this situation lasts longer than 3 months we call it chronic pain.

Chronic pain can be a debilitating condition that has a profound impact on the quality of life, leading to depression, anxiety, ongoing fatigue and insomnia, which in turn significantly affects pain recovery. Also, because chronic pain is invisible, chronic pain sufferers often feel stigmatised and hear that the pain is “in their heads” making them feel abandoned, misunderstood and hopeless. At Mobilise, in a supportive and compassionate environment, we will take a close look at all aspects of your pain and design a chronic pain treatment, management and rehabilitation plan to suit your individual chronic pain condition.

You are not alone with your pain! We are here to help.
