Pain Physiotherapy at Mobilise Taringa is an advanced, hands-on therapy for injury and pain.
Pain Physiotherapy concentrates on the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal acute and chronic pain. To qualify as a Pain Physiotherapist in Australia, practitioners must complete a Master of Science in Medicine in Pain Management, as well as a Physiotherapy Degree (either Bachelor or Masters level), and demonstrate several years of practical experience in the field of pain management. The rigorous titling process is conducted by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and involves the assessment of the physiotherapist’s qualifications and their work experience. If successful, the physiotherapist becomes an APA Titled Pain Physiotherapist and a member of the Australian College of Physiotherapist (MACP). There are only six APA Tilted Pain Physiotherapists in the Brisbane area, and Eve is one of them. This shows how rare this specialty is, and with increasing numbers of chronic pain sufferers in Australia, the demand is high.
Pain Physiotherapy involves an in-depth physical assessment, using postural evaluations, orthopaedic and neurological testing, movement / biomechanical investigations and an in-depth psycho-social evaluation to determine the causes of your pain so we can treat/manage it correctly and effectively. Treatments can encompass many advanced hands-on techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, dry / electro – needling, taping and exercise rehabilitation, as well as neuroscience-based techniques such as graded desensitisation, and graded motor imagery. Additionally, our Pain Physiotherapist holds extra qualifications in Pain Psychology to support the complex nature of chronic pain treatment and management with psychologically and trauma informed therapeutic approaches.
Our Pain Physiotherapists will tailor a treatment and rehabilitation program specifically for YOU, to treat your pain.
All our Physiotherapy treatments and therapists are covered for Medicare and Health Insurance Rebates, and our clinic offers instant rebates through our HiCaps system. We also work with NDIS, DVA and insurance clients.

What happens during a Pain Physiotherapy appointment?
At your first appointment, your Physiotherapist will take a relevant medical history, discuss your goals for treatment, get you to fill out some questionnaires and assess your movement and posture. We will then discuss our findings and possible treatment options with you.
After assessment we will begin the hands-on treatment with you, most often during the same appointment. We will then go through a rehabilitation plan for you.
Unlike most Physiotherapy appointments that only last for 30mins, our Pain Physiotherapy appointments extend a full hour, so we can comprehensively cover all areas of your recovery from assessment and treatment to rehabilitation. We will also discuss your prognosis and treatment plan with you, including whether follow up appointments are indicated.
